Dusty Digest. September 2017 In this Newsletter
We are having a go at make the newsletter easier to read on mobile devices if you have any comments please let us know at news@swanhillsportingcarclub.com.au Next Event: Sunday October 1st Test and Tune Scrutineering from 9am Calendar of Events Please Read Dear Swan Hill Sporting Car Club member As the club continually grows and race day gets busier and busier, the committee has recently reviewed how we currently process race entries on the day to save double handling. As you would know from previous emails the Club strongly encourages all those entering to use the MSA portal for race entries. To speed up the entry process on the day we are asking all those racing to please get their car scrutineered prior to entering the club rooms to complete your race entry. If you have not entered via the portal then you can collect a copy of the Supp Regs from Lyn Andrew from the club room. If you are taking a passenger or are being a passenger on the day then you can obtain a passenger form from Lyn Andrew also. Please do not line up to see Lynne Paynter (event secretary) until you have had your car scrutineered and have the scrutineer form, completed the Supp Regs (please do not complete a hard copy if you have entered via the portal) and a passenger form if required. You will also need to have your MSA licence as well as your SHSCC current membership card. You can go to SHSCC website and download the Supp Regs (if not entered via the portal) and a passenger form and complete prior to the day which will fast track you to entering. If you are not entering via the portal you can complete the Supp Regs and email to Lynne Paynter so we know you will be attending eventsecretary@swanhillsportingcarclub.com.au A reminder that the club now has EFTPOS at the track and can be used for entry fees as well as canteen. Weekend Brief Last Event:
What a Big weekend.
Saturday Bunning's Sausage sizzle with a large club display beside it and
was a very successful day. We are also doing some fundraising with a
Care Flight BEAR RAFFLE, then Sunday a test and tune that had 34 entries
and while the wind could have been a bit better the day was fantastic as
was the racing. There was some major helpers over the weekend and I
thank you all as that is what makes up the backbone of the club. But on
track you had to work for it this time and as you can see from the odd
pic there were lots of offs in the weeds, some even modifying perfectly good
panels by slamming them into heavy objects as it was a bit like skating
really to start with but as the day went on the track improved with some
of the quickest laps at the end with about half a dozen people going lap
after lap and their times tumbling. Now have a real good look at any pics
you see of your car from Lyn Andrew Photography or Robert Goff as you
can learn a lot just by looking at tyres, suspension and track position
not to mention they are great shots.
Great Day and thank you all. The sun was shining the
day was warm but the wind was almost non-existent and that means dust. You would have thought the track would have been a bit damp, but no.
The track was how ever in great shape and as the day went on and some
rubber went down, it got quicker; with people coming from as far away as
Cranbourne, Shepparton, Gunbower, Wycheproof and Stawell to name a few. Jobbo (Kelvin Jobling)
did well and was the quickest in Class E in his VN Commodore he has been
making changes which are paying off. Great work Jobbo with Nathan
McNeill in his Commodore close on his heels with less than 0.20 sec
between them over the 4 lap scoring while Craig Williams 3rd is making
headway in his Falcon Ute which has had some bodywork added. Paul Eccles from
Cerberus Car Club in Melbourne was doing some testing in his rally
prepared Subaru Wrx; he was the quickest on the day by about 5 seconds in
Class W and did it sound great with Adrian Coastworth in his Subaru Wrx
the next quickest behind Paul they were also 1st and 2nd
outright with 3rd going to Jake Vallance also in a Subaru. Neil Donnan took out
Class D honors in his Ford Focus in a late charge of quick laps over
Club President Chris Gibson in a Mitsubishi lancer 2nd and
Reg Johnson in his Datsun 200B 3rd with Barry Middleton in 4th
in his Mitsubishi Lancer all of which looked to be having a great day. Glenn King-Gee in his
Suzuki Swift was the winner in Class C with Club VP Neil Albert in his
Get Reel production Hyundai Excel hot pursuit. Class L went to Stacey
Paynter not that we did not miss a spin on the lead up to the bridge and
looked funny stuffed between the safety barriers there for a minute. Class P was very close
with Shane Clue in a Mitsubishi lancer edging out Terence Ingram in his
Commodore followed closely by Rodney Stevenson in his Mazda 323 with
only a small gap between them all. Class J saw Josh Bohm
from Shepparton in his Hyundai Excel lay down some very
consistent times throughout the day as work his way toward Rally
readiness and Blair Clue was going well in a car that just did not look
as happy with it's suspension but Daniel McDonald just kept trying defying
the laws of gravity and physics but in him X Club car Sigma which
started out the day fairly straight but the same could not be said for
it by the end even though it was still running.
While Dylan McFarlane
was the only one in Class S I would think he was very happy with day his
buggy is defiantly on the improve and is getting much quicker he ended
the day 6th overall.
Results By class with time
split Remember you must do 2
laps per lane to qualify

Race Day Clothing.
Drivers need to be aware that there are minimum standards for clothing
on race day and that clothing standards are part of the scrutineering
process. That means that if you are not dressed in your race gear when
the car is being scrutineered, then you will have to produce what you
are wearing. Below is a summary of what can and cannot be worn when
racing. If these standards are not met then you will not pass
scrutineering and will not be able to race.
